About Sasha Gentsis
Sasha Gentsis is a professional landscape photographer based in Moscow, Russia. Over the past decade, Sasha has held 15 personal exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and London.
Born in Moscow in 1971, he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation. His interest in modern photography arose when he was a teenager, inspired by his school friend who always carried a camera everywhere. However, the purchase of his first professional camera in the year 2000 led him to pursue photography professionally. Since then, great part of Sasha’s impressive photographs stem from his numerous trips around the world.
He started his professional journey with his very first personal exhibition called “Colourful photography by Sasha Gentsis”. This exhibition was held in Moscow, where he showcased his large format panoramic photographs for the first time. The nature of Iceland, Greenland, USA, Japan, Sweden, Burma and his native Russia is a predominant theme in his artworks.
After years of artistic exploration and experimentation with different techniques, styles, materials and concepts, Sasha presented his new photographic project called Duets in 2011. Duets is an art project in which the author explores the dualities and similarities that can be found in completely different shapes, colours, materials, textures, places, emotions and concepts. His work fosters a contemplative expression, almost forcing the viewer to think about essentially dual nature of life.
