CANYONS

OSAKA, JAPAN, 2012 / GRAND CANYON, USA 2011

The photograph on the upper part of the duet was taken in the Antelope Canyon in America. This unique canyon is only 200m long, but on a sunny day visitors can spend hours walking through it, back and forth, while observing the magic colours of its walls which are completely grey on a cloudy day. The second photograph represents a shopping mall called “Canyonland” in the city of Osaka (Japan). It is surprising how similar they are!

BLUE EYES

MALLORCA, SPAIN 2013 / YELLOWSTONE’S PARK, USA, 2013

The Caves of Drach are a unique location due to their large subterranean lakes. They are also an exceptional concert hall: classical music concerts are held regularly inside one
of the caves.
The Morning Glory Pool, a hot spring in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone’s National Park, is one of the most beautiful and famous locations in the United States. Many years ago, people used to throw all kinds of objects in it in order to cause a water splash. Because of this it has been severely altered and does not erupt like it used to, although it still maintains its extraordinary colour scale.

ANY RESEMBLANCES?

NORWAY, 2013 / NORWAY, 2013

What does the beach have in common with dry cod? Viewers will certainly come up with their own answer. In my opinion, they both draw beautiful patterns, with the slight difference that one is created by nature and the other by man.

TWO WOMEN

CHILE, 2009 / ICELAND, 2011

On the left photograph, the streams of water flowing from the geyser in the Chilean national park outline a female dancer’s silhouette. Similarly, the right picture displays a river flowing from the mountains of central Iceland to the Atlantic Ocean. Its ondulations sketch another sinuous female body. All of the colours on this photograph are natural. The dreamy patterns and colour combinations are caused by the minerals carried by the water. The picture was taken from a helicopter. These natural drawings put side by side create a perfect duet.

KALEIDOSCOPES

ICELAND, 2011 / USA, 2013

If I were to publish an album dedicated to Iceland, I would place the upper image on the cover. In my opinion, this photograph resonates very well with the mountains in Grand Teton National Park’s in the USA.

SEASONS OF THE YEAR

SWEDEN, 2011 / SWEDEN, 2012

Both of these photographs were taken in the Söderåsen National Park in Southern Sweden. They match perfectly and complete each other harmoniously. This tiny park has a breathtaking colour palette at any time of the year. Both photographs were taken from the same point of view, that is from the lake, although one was taken in autumn and the other in spring.

CIRCLE

RUSSIA, RIVER LAMA, 2007 / ICELAND, 2013

The first part of the duo is a photograph of a waterfall on the Lama River at Yaropolets’ Hydroelectric power station. In the 1920’s, local farmers saw a movie about the Niagara Falls and decided to reproduce the same waterfall in their river. No sooner said than done: they built a Hydroelectric power station resembling a waterfall. So, as you can see, this waterfall comes with a bonus: it produces electricity!
The second part of the duo depicts a carefully hidden waterfall in Iceland. The water cascades on a vertical wall of red stone. The amazingly beautiful glacier that protects this wall makes it difficult to see it from up close.

FLOWERS

NORWAY, 2013 / YELLOWSTONE, USA, 2013

These flowers are very unusual. The first one is sketched by the foam in the glacial Arctic Ocean. I found the second one in the Yellowstone park. I find that the lanky branches delineate a similar shape to the one that is traced by the waves of the ocean.

ARENAS

SPAIN 2005 / SPAIN 2009

The upper part of the duo – the first bull ring arena in Spain, built in the South of the country in Ronda. Subsequently, these arenas were built throughout Spain and its colonies. Lower “Arena” – a museum in the old railway depot near Barcelona. A couple dozen of locomotives that were ran in Spain for the last 180 years, gathered together for a very interesting exhibition for children and adults.

LINES ON THE GROUND 2

ISRAEL 2013 / ICELAND 2004

Sometimes it is useful to look under our feet. Especially when other people only look around. The first photograph represents one of the most beautiful places in Haifa – the Bahai gardens. The lower work: late spring in Russia. I always try to use my camera during the flight. But only once the shooting conditions let me create photographs I am really proud of. It was a flight from Moscow to Ashgabat. In the picture: Voronezh region.

MAUSOLEUMS

INDIA 2013 / ICELAND 2011

The only time in 13 years of professional photography, my camera and the automatic rewind of the film did not work. So I got an odd frame with double exposure of Taj Mahal, which is “reflected” in the water, breaking all the laws of optics. In a duet with him- a natural island in the river Pjorsa in southern Iceland, filmed from a helicopter.

RED GOLD OF THE EARTH

ICELAND, 2004 / RUSSIA, 2010

This duet is dedicated to an unusual pattern drawn by nature itself. The right side of the duet shows the steppes of Astrakhan. This picture was taken from a 10 km height. This
odd landscape in Russia caught my attention while I was flying from Moscow to Ashgabat. I captured the change of the season during the flight and this photo represents summer. The Strokkur geyser, depicted on the left, is probably the most well-known geysers in the world. This photomacrograph was taken from a ground level. Although it is mostly common for people to take pictures from an eye-level, we shouldn’t forget that there are also many interesting things to discover at our feet.
